How to check a supplier before you sign

Check the supplier's registration, owners, charges over its assets, court matters and press. Then ask it for recent accounts and two customer references.

  1. Find the supplier on the register where it was formed: still registered, under the name and number on the contract.
  2. Find who stands behind it: its owners and directors, and their other companies.
  3. Search for charges and liens registered over its assets.
  4. Search the courts for cases by or against it and its people.
  5. Read what the press has reported about it in the last few years.

What to ask the supplier for: recent accounts, two customer references, proof of insurance, and who may sign for it.

Or send the company's name and city to LightRay. In about 12 minutes: who owns it, who runs it, what it has filed, any court matters and its press. First three free.
